\n\tSome Mas\u0101jid ask for a fee to issue a Nikah certificate\/services. Who is responsible to pay for the cost of the certificate\/services? The bride or the groom?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a Nika\u1e25, the only expense which defined by the Shari\u02bfah shall be mandatory is the mahr (dowry).[1] Afterward, the husband is entitled to maintain his wife and comply with his duty.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tApart from that, there are no other expenses mentioned by Shari\u02bfah which is specific to Nika\u1e25. Even the walimah (Nikah banquet) is sunnah.[2]<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tTherefore, any other expenses could be paid either by the groom or the bride or shared between both. We strongly advise that all these topics should clearly be discussed ahead of Nika\u1e25 so that a peaceful and joyful Nika\u1e25 ceremony will be celebrated in sh\u0101 Allah.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
