Can one do Adh\u0101n over the phone or should you wait till it comes home?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><u>In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">To give Adh\u0101n in baby\u2019s right ear and Iqamah in the left ear is recommended (Mustahabb) and not an obligation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The Sahabi Abu Rafi` said: \u201cI saw the Messenger of All\u0101h (May the peace and blessings of All\u0101h h be upon him) give adhan in the ear of al-Hasan, the son of `Ali when Fatimah gave birth to him.\u201d (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, Hadith No.1514)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Imam Mulla Ali al-Q\u0101ri says: \u201cThe wisdom of giving Adh\u0101n in the ear is that it strikes the hearing in the first instance with the remembrance of All\u0101h, the Almighty, by way of invitation to faith and prayer which is the mother of all pillars\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">This Adh\u0101n can be delayed until the father or a male relative is present to give the Adh\u0101n. With regards to giving Adh\u0101n in the ear via the phone, if no males are available or are unable to come due to the long-distance or lockdown restriction etc&#8230; then it can be done via a phone. However, as I mentioned above, it is mustahabb and not mandatory.
