Question<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1) If my husband is traveling, is it halal for me to masturbate? Knowing that he is ok with it as long as I take his permission and also is it ok for him to masturbate?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2) I know that anal sex is haram, and so is inserting fingers into a wife’s anus, but does this also apply to sex toys? Such as butt plugs? Provided cleanliness is guaranteed?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah states in the Holy Quran:<\/span>
\n\u201cAnd those who guard their private parts, except with their spouses or those who are legally in their possession, for in that case they shall not be blamed, however, those who seek to go beyond that in lust are the ones who shall be the transgressors.\u201d<\/span>
\n(Surah Al Muminun: 5-7)<\/span><\/p>\n

After praising the believers for guarding their private parts against that which He has made forbidden for them, Allah SWT has warned that the transgressors are those who go beyond what is lawful. Imam Qurtubi on commenting on the above verse states that according to the scholar’s masturbation is haram.<\/span>
\n(Tafseer Qurtubi, Vol 12, p.98)<\/span><\/p>\n

With regards to sex toys, they will be permissible to use if the toys are not harmful in any way to the spouses; they must not have an animate figure element and should not be inserted into the inner-private part of the women, rather such toys should be used do stimulate the outer private part such as the clitoris. It is not permissible to insert it into the anus.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Furthermore, the toys should be used to pleasure the spouse only.\u00a0 One is not allowed to use the toys by themselves as this will be like masturbation.\u00a0 Also, if there is a danger that by using the toys the spouses may begin to use them in private, then it will be best to completely avoid purchasing such products.<\/span><\/p>\n
