{"id":2239,"date":"2011-09-01T18:59:28","date_gmt":"2011-09-01T18:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp\/?p=2239"},"modified":"2011-09-01T18:59:28","modified_gmt":"2011-09-01T18:59:28","slug":"behaviour-with-ghair-mahram-relatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/home\/behaviour-with-ghair-mahram-relatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Behaviour with ghair mahram relatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\">Can I ask about the ruling in regard to how women should behave around ghair mahram relatives?<br \/>\n<strong>In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful <\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Answer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allah states in the Quran: \u201c<em>Stay in your homes and do not display your finery as women used to do in the days of ignorance (pre-Islamic days)\u2026\u201d<\/em> (Surah Al Ahzab: 33)<br \/>\nAllah states further: <em>\u201cO Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the women of the believers, that they should draw their outer garment (Jilbab) over their persons. That is more proper, so that they may be recognized and not be bothered.\u00a0 And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.\u201d<\/em> (Surah al-Ahzab, 59)<br \/>\nAbdullah ibn Masud narrates that the Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) said:<em> \u201cA woman is supposed to be concealed, for when she goes out (without covering herself properly), Shaytan looks at her.\u201d<\/em> (Tirmidhi: 928)<br \/>\nIt is clear from the above that a female should stay in and only when the need arises to go out (in front of ghair mahram men) that she should come out. Before coming out she should cover herself according to the teachings of Islam and should not be alone in the presence of a ghair mahram as Umar ibn Al Khattab narrates that the Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) said: <em>\u201cWhenever a man is alone with a women the devil makes a third.\u201d <\/em>(Thirmidhi: 930).<\/p>\n<p>Only Allah knows best.<\/p>\n<p>Sayeedur Rahman<\/p>\n<p>Darul Ifta, Birmingham<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can I ask about the ruling in regard to how women should behave around ghair mahram relatives?
