I came across this website here: https:\/\/www.botb.com\/prizes\/cars<\/a>. It states that you can enter a competition by purchasing a ticket or tickets to win a brand new car along with a cash prize as well e.g. a new Audi with \u00a320,000 cash. I believe the winner is decided on who can spot the ball or object which is erased from a picture (whether that’s a football or something else I’m not so sure), whoever’s closest to where the ball actually is, is pronounced as the winner. Please have a read of the website and find out some information regarding this. If this is haram, please can you state why and what type of impermissible category it would come under? The definition of \u201cmaysir\u201d or \u201cqimar\u201d is not just what our view of \u201cgambling\u201d is[2]<\/a>. It is any game or sport with chance\/risk in which one takes part, paying some amount of money, with the outcome being unknown and there being the possibility of either winning or losing [3]<\/a>. This could even be a game of football if you have to pay to take part in the competition. Essentially, any game in which you spend money and they may get victory or loss is classed as qimar [4]<\/a>. In the definitions that have been given to these words, it is apparent that they are synonymous. One definition renders it as \u201c\u062a\u0645\u0644\u064a\u0643 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0627\u0644 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u062e\u0627\u0637\u0631\u0629\u201d i.e. transferring of ownership of wealth by chance\/risk\u201d [5]<\/a>. Another definition puts it as \u201c\u062a\u0645\u0644\u064a\u0643 \u0639\u0644\u0649 \u0633\u0628\u064a\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u062e\u0627\u0637\u0631\u0629\u201d i.e. transferring by the way of a chance\/risk [6]<\/a>. Allamah ibn Seereenrahimahullah says \u201c\u0643\u0644 \u0634\u064a\u0621 \u0641\u064a\u0647 \u0642\u0645\u0627\u0631 \u0641\u0647\u0648 \u0645\u064a\u0633\u0631\u201d i.e. everything which has gambling in it is in fact \u201cmaysir\u201d as well[7]<\/a>. Imam Malik rahimahullah also defined it: \u201c\u0645\u064a\u0633\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0642\u0645\u0627\u0631: \u0645\u0627 \u064a\u062a\u062e\u0627\u0637\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0627\u0633 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647\u201d i.e. it is that type of gambling which people take risks upon (in other words a game of chance in which you spent money).<\/span><\/p>\n

In the competition you have mentioned, you are paying money to purchase a ticket and the outcome is unknown. You may win or you may lose. This is the essence of qimar\/maysir and is therefore impermissible. There is no disagreement among the scholars on this point[8]<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
