About a year or so ago my wife and I had an argument. It became very heated and to threaten her I said “I’ll divorce you” or I might have said, “I’ll divorce you right now”. I clearly remember I said this as a threat as in I meant to say “I can give a divorce right now” but in my anger, I said it as I will give divorce. I did not have the intention of actually giving the divorce.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will divorce take place in this instance?<\/span><\/p>\n

If the statement of divorce was connected to the past like \u201cI\u2019ve divorced you yesterday\u201d etc. then divorce has taken place.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the scenario mentioned above, the marriage is valid and Talaq did not take place. (1)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We should take the matter of Talaq with seriousness and not utter divorce-related things when we argue.<\/span><\/p>\n
