Whilst growing up, when we would ask our parents “where is Allah?” They would reply “everywhere”. I have been told this is not the correct answer. My children have started asking me this question. Please could you advise as to what is the correct and best answer to give?<\/span><\/p>\n

There is no secret talk between the three but He (Allah) is the fourth of them, and nor (a talk) of five but He (Allah) is the sixth of them. And less than this or more than this wheresoever they may be but He (Allah) is with them. Later on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Surely Allah is All-Knowing of all things. (Surah Mujadalah, Verse 7)<\/span><\/p>\n

A Bedouin said, O Messenger of Allah (\u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645), is our Lord near, so we call him, or far away, so we call him? Then the Prophet (\u0635\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647 \u0648\u0633\u0644\u0645) was silent, and Allah (\u0633\u0628\u062d\u0627\u0646\u0647 \u0648 \u062a\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0649)revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, Allah (\u0639\u0632 \u0648 \u062c\u0644) revealed the verse<\/span><\/p>\n

And Allah Most High existed when there was no \u2018where\u2019, no creation, nothing; and He is the Creator of everything.\u201d 3<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe who says that I do not know if my Lord is in the sky or the earth has indeed committed disbelief. Likewise, he who says that He is on His Throne, but I do not know whether the Throne is in the sky or the earth [has also committed disbelief].\u201d 4<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

Imam Malik (\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) was asked about the verse<\/span><\/p>\n

\ufd3f\u0627\u0644\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0646 \u0639\u064e\u0644\u0649 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0634 \u0627\u0633\u062a\u0648\u0649\ufd3e [\u0637\u0647 \u0665]<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord of Mercy was established on the throne. (Surah Ta-Ha, Verse 5)<\/span><\/p>\n

So he (\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) said;<\/span><\/p>\n

: \u00ab\u0627\u0644\u0627\u0633\u062a\u0648\u0627\u0621 \u0645\u0639\u0644\u0648\u0645\u060c \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0643\u064a\u0641 \u0645\u062c\u0647\u0648\u0644\u060c \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0625\u064a\u0645\u0627\u0646 \u0628\u0647 \u0648\u0627\u062c\u0628\u060c \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0633\u0624\u0627\u0644 \u0639\u0646\u0647 \u0628\u062f\u0639\u0629.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAl-Istiw\u00e2 is known, and the \u2018how\u2019 is unknown and to have belief in it is obligatory, and to question it is an innovation.\u201d5<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

Imam Tahawi (\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) states,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0648\u062a\u064e\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0649 \u0639\u064e\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u062d\u064f\u062f\u064f\u0648\u062f\u0650 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u063a\u0627\u064a\u0627\u062a\u0650 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0631\u0652\u0643\u0627\u0646\u0650 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0623\u0639\u0652\u0636\u0627\u0621\u0650 \u0648\u0627\u0644\u0623\u062f\u064e\u0648\u0627\u062a\u0650 \u0644\u0627 \u062a\u062d\u0648\u064a\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u062c\u0647\u0627\u062a \u0627\u0644\u0633\u062a \u0643\u0633\u0627\u0626\u0631 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0628\u062a\u062f\u0639\u0627\u062a<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Allah) is beyond having limits placed on Him, or being restricted, or having parts or limbs. Nor is He confined by the six directions like all the created things.\u201d 6<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

\u0665\u0660 – \u0648\u0647\u0648 \u0645\u0633\u062a\u063a\u0646 \u0639\u0646 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0634 \u0648\u0645\u0627 \u062f\u0648\u0646\u0647<\/span><\/p>\n

Allah is independent of the Arsh and other things.8<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hence, Allah\u2019s presence is not in the manner and mode of the presence of the created things.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The view of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah is that Allah existed from infinity before He created place, direction and time and he remains as He always has been.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The conclusion is that one must have the belief that Allah (\u0639\u0632 \u0648 \u062c\u0644) is pure from space and time.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore, it is wrong to say that He is everywhere and it is also wrong to believe that He is on something, as all these are limited whereas Allah (\u0633\u0628\u062d\u0627\u0646\u0647 \u0648 \u062a\u0639\u0627\u0644\u0649)is limitless.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, we must believe that His knowledge encompasses everything, and he knows, sees and listens to everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Only Allah knows best.<\/span><\/p>\n
