I want to know if whistling is a call of Shaitan?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In principle, whistling is merely a sound emitted from the mouth; hence it is permissible.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whistling is from amongst the ways of the disbelievers so it should be avoided. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the days of ignorance, the polytheists used to whistle when engaging in worship at Baitullah as understood from the verse below:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0648\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0643\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0635\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627\u062a\u064f\u0647\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u0639\u0650\u0646\u0652\u062f\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0628\u064e\u064a\u0652\u062a\u0650 \u0625\u0650\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0645\u064f\u0643\u064e\u0627\u0621\u064b \u0648\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0635\u0652\u062f\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0629\u064b \u0641\u064e\u0630\u064f\u0648\u0642\u064f\u0648\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0652\u0639\u064e\u0630\u064e\u0627\u0628\u064e \u0628\u0650\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u0643\u064f\u0646\u0652\u062a\u064f\u0645\u0652 \u062a\u064e\u0643\u0652\u0641\u064f\u0631\u064f\u0648\u0646\u064e<\/span><\/p>\n

And their prayer near the House was not more than whistling and clapping.\u00a0 So taste the punishment, because you used to disbelieve. (Quran 8\/35)<\/span><\/p>\n

We were unable to find any narration which states that it is a means of calling Shaytaan. However, it will be good to stop a whistling habit, as it is loud and annoying and not befitting to refined good character.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore The ruling of whistling will depend on the reason and how it is used. If it is used for example by a lost person to identify his whereabouts, then it is permissible. If it is used in the context of music\/singing or to cause disturbance\/noise, it will be prohibited.<\/span><\/p>\n
