Question:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My students asked me about aliens. Has this been mentioned anywhere in our Deen? What is our belief regarding this?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah (swt) tells us in the Quran that he is \u201cLord of all the worlds\u201d (Quran, 1:4).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Also, Allah (swt) says:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAmong His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has scattered through them: and He has power to gather them together when He wills.\u201d (Quran 42:29)<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, there is a possibility that aliens did exist. However, Islam neither negates this nor confirms it and ultimately there is no Shari benefit in discussing such issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

Allah [SWT] says in the Holy Quran:<\/span><\/p>\n

Those who believe, do not ask about things which, if disclosed, may displease you; (5:101)<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the commentary of this verse, Mufti Shafi Sahib (Rahmatullah Alaih) explains: Asking about things for which there is no need, shall still remain prohibited, even after the discontinuation of the process of Prophethood. The reason is simple. This is a waste of time, your own and that of others.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With regards to any of the creations of Allah, be they aliens, dinosaurs etc., since the reality of these creations is not known, it is not possible to comment on them. For our belief, if there is truth and reality in these creations, we should simply take them as further manifestations of the power of Allah. We should focus on what is important and prepare for the hereafter.<\/span><\/p>\n
