I am in love with a Daw\u016bd\u012b Bohra girl. Daw\u016bd\u012b Bohra is Musta’ti Ism\u0101\u2019il\u012b Shias and firmly believe in their high priest (D\u0101\u2019\u012b ul Mu\u1e6dlaq). They never go against his commands or teachings. Every child upon reaching puberty takes an oath to follow D\u0101\u2019\u012b’s teachings. This is done in a ceremony called Mith\u0101q. They also believe their D\u0101\u2019\u012b can perform karam\u0101t<\/em> and do not hesitate to turn to D\u0101\u2019\u012b for their needs. They believe their D\u0101\u2019\u012b can hear them even if not present among them. One common practice among them is to keep D\u0101\u2019\u012b’s picture in their wallet for barakah<\/em>. She wants to practice her firqa<\/em> and does not wish to change her beliefs about D\u0101\u2019\u012b’s supernatural abilities. I do not believe in firqas<\/em> but I believe only All\u0101h can fulfill our wishes and the only karam\u0101t<\/em> that can be performed by any human is through du\u2019\u0101. No man himself possesses any godly quality. In light of these differences do you think our marriage is permissible and also if it is suitable?<\/span><\/p>\n

The described beliefs of turning to a leader for needs as one would do to All\u0101h and believing that one\u2019s leader can hear them even in physical absence or distance constitute shirk (associating partners with All\u0101h). This is in opposition to the creed described in the Qur\u2019\u0101n and authentic sunnah (prophetic teachings).<\/span><\/p>\n
