In the name of <\/strong><\/u>All<\/strong><\/u><\/em>\u0101<\/strong><\/u><\/em>h<\/strong><\/u><\/em>, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cSacrifice only a grown-up animal, unless it is difficult for you, in which case sacrifice a ram (of even less than a year, but more than six months’ age).\u201d [Sahih al-Muslim: Hadith 1963<\/em>] [1]<\/span><\/p>\n

The general ruling regarding sheep is that they should be a year old. However, allowance has been given for that sheep (lamb) which is above six months old but is of a similar size to those sheep which are a year old, such that if an onlooker was to glance at a herd of one-year-old sheep then this six-month-old would not stand out (i.e., that it would blend in).
