Question:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

After washing a cloth I noticed that the substance of mathi\/maniy was not removed. As this wet cloth despite washing, still containing the impurity came into contact with other wet clothes, does all of those clothes become impure and must be washed again?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Clothing with visible impurity will be considered pure once the impurity itself or its effects have been eliminated, even if it requires only one wash. If the effects of an impurity, such as colour, persist on the clothing even after washing it, it will be deemed pure after three washings or when the water being used to wash the clothes turns clear, it is not necessary to use boiling water or soap.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Regarding the transference of impurity, there are 2 rules:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. If the impurity is dry and comes into contact with a wet pure surface then the surface will not be considered impure unless there is an obvious change in the colour or smell of the wet surface.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. If the impurity is liquid like urine and comes into contact with anything dry, the impurity has transferred.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    However, the amount of impurity transferred to the garment must be considered to decide if it needs to be washed again. Clothing containing a major impurity, such as madhi or mani, needs to be cleaned again if the amount of impurity exceeds the size of a dirham. Clothing with a minor impurity present will need to be washed again if it is present on a quarter of the clothing.<\/span><\/p>\n
