My husband in an angry argument texted me \u201cI think we should end this\u201d is this a divorce?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also in the argument I asked him do u not fear god and he shook his head angrily and I said are u a kaffir and he said yeah. Is our nikkah still valid?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

For divorce to be valid, the husband must speak in the past or present tense. The phrase \u2018I think we should end this’ does not count as a divorce even if the wife replies \u2018yes\u2019 because it is a statement expressing a future intention rather than a present decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is important that we also understand that anger makes people say things they do not truly mean out of frustration. Nevertheless, it is a severe statement to proclaim oneself a kafir, and your husband must repent to Allah, renew his faith, and renew his marriage with you as it has been annulled.<\/span><\/p>\n
