My questions are regarding vaginal discharge in accordance to Hanafi.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Does having dried vaginal discharge in underwear and praying with it make my salat invalid?<\/span>
\n2. Does vaginal discharge immediately break wudu? (I keep hearing differing opinions)<\/span>
\n3. How do I pray with vaginal discharge then?<\/span>
\n4. Can I touch the Quran with dried vaginal discharge in my underwear?<\/span>
\n5. Is vaginal discharge najis?<\/span>
\n6. Can I pray with yellow discharge in the days leading up to my period?<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, it must be mentioned that these questions relate to a specific area of fiqh that is incumbent upon women to study. The ulema such as Imam Birgivi, may Allah have mercy on him, wrote a treatise on it and the great Imam Ibn \u2018Aabideen wrote a commentary on it. This area affects many other areas of Islamic law such as divorce.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In response to your question:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There are a number of different vaginal discharges:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A clear discharge that is produced in normal circumstances.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Menstrual discharge1<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Irregular bleeding2<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Sexual discharge released during sexual activity.3<\/sup><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Only the first type is considered as pure even if it exceeds the area of a dirham (approximately 5cm in diameter).<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The first type mentioned above would not break wudu, but the rest will.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    If it is of the first type one prays as normal, having a valid state of wudu. Types b one does not pray until menstruation ends. Type c if it is continuous one prays as an excused person. Type d requires a ghusl.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Yes, you can touch the Quran in this situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The first type is not najis, but the rest are.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Any colour other than clear discharge is considered hayd if it is after 15 days of tuhr (purity), so it depends on if this has occurred. If it is within 15 days then it is irregular bleeding, if after then it is hayd and one cannot pray.<\/span><\/p>\n
