Question:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Is a nose job haram? I\u2018m having breathing problems since I was a child and my doctor is telling me always to get a septoplasty. My question is if I\u2018m allowed since I\u2019m already going through that surgery to tell them to change the appearance of my nose.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Qur\u2019an:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have shaped mankind in the best mould.\u201d [1]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In another verse Allah (SWT) says:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cWe bestowed on the children of Adam (as) a specific honour and sanctity.\u201d [2]<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finally, Allah (SWT) quotes Satan\u2019s saying,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cVerily I will mislead them, and surely I will arouse in them false desires, and certainly I will order them to still the ears of the cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allah (SWT).\u201d [3]<\/span><\/p>\n

From the aforementioned Qur\u2019anic verses the point we can derive is that anything which is against the sanctity of mankind and changes ones God given features will be totally prohibited.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, if there is a genuine need due to something being abnormal or deformed, then there is scope for permissibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If the surgery is being done purely for the purpose of beautification, then this will not be permissible, as it involves mutilating one’s body and changing ones God given features.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The septoplasty is allowed due to the medical need but the nose job is not allowed.<\/span><\/p>\n
