Many shampoos have silicones in them such as dimethiconol. This creates a barrier which cannot be rinsed away with water, will this affect wudu?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If the barrier present in the shampoo is so powerful that it cannot be rinsed away with water, then it will affect the purity which should be achieved when bathing Islamically, which is for water to pass and reach through to the roots of hair and pass over each section of the skin.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With shampoo, once it is in the hair it would require to be washed off and that would be achieved by the flowing of water over the hair; thereby removing all impurities and anything else which would be in the hair alongside the shampoo.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore, the shampoo which contains silicones in them such as dimethiconol would be ineffective against the water which would wash the shampoo and the silicon away so that the water reaches the roots of the hair and body so that purification is achieved, both physically and spiritually.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This will not affect the wudhu as the silicone ingredient can be washed away from the hair to remove the silicone containing shampoo.<\/span><\/p>\n
