Assalamualaikum, There is a game in which I spent 2$ in and in the game there is a quest where you have to reach level 30 to receive 50$. The game is free but I bought in game content so I can reach the goal faster. I reached the goal and received the 50$ but didn’t cash it in yet. Would this be lottery or is this halal. Jazakallah.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Shariah, gambling is referred to as “Maysir” or “Qimar.” The definition of gambling in Shariah is engaging in any activity or transaction where there is a risk of losing money, property, or something of value based on chance, with the possibility of gaining more than what was originally invested.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The situation you’ve described involves a game where you spent money to reach a certain level faster in order to receive a reward of $50. To determine if this falls under lottery or gambling, or if it’s permissible (halal) in Islam, we need to consider the following aspects:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If the reward is guaranteed upon reaching a specific level, and there\u2019s no element of chance involved, it will be permissible. In gambling (which is haram), the outcome depends on luck or chance, where participants risk their money for an uncertain outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, there’s a fine line, the $2 you spent seems like it is a register fee or something to this effect, this was collected from all subscribers and it will be probably the same money used to give the $50, hence those who didn\u2019t continue or didn\u2019t reached there will lose this $2.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The prizes in a way resembles gambling (where you risk money with the potential to win or lose based on chance), then it will be considered impermissible.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It would be safer to avoid cashing in the reward.<\/span><\/p>\n
