So a lady from the company passed away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her funeral is on Tuesday next week in a Catholic Church. Because the director of the company had an operation and cannot attend and I fall next in charge they’re asking me to attend the funeral.\u00a0 I have explained that for religious purposes I cannot enter the church or attend the funeral.\u00a0 But they’re not understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As Muslims, we are bound to follow the Shariah whether we understand it or not and it is important for us to guard our beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At the funerals of non-Muslims, they do their prayer invocating other than Allah and associating partners with Allah. We should therefore not be in such gatherings as they involve many wrongful acts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thus it is impermissible for a Muslim to attend the funeral of a non-Muslim even though the person was part of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, you can show sympathy, send a message of condolences, help and assist the family. You can also meet them when prayer is not taking place.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

One should also be careful of the words used to express the condolences. It is not permitted to seek forgiveness or entry into paradise.<\/span><\/p>\n
