\n<\/span>I follow the Hanafi madhab and I am aware that it requires us to wash the entire body in ghusl. However, I did not realise this extended to the scalp\/hair and thus, no water reached it but did reach the rest of my body. Does this make my ghusl invalid? And if so, do I have to repeat all my prayers with the invalid ghusl? This is going to be difficult for me because I genuinely have no idea how many prayers I prayed with those invalid ghusls, probably months worth but it\u2019s very blurry and I\u2019m not sure how many to make up. Is there advice you can offer me on that issue as well?<\/span>

In the Hanafi madhhab, it is required to wash the entire body during ghusl, which includes the scalp and hair. If water did not reach your scalp and hair, then technically, the ghusl would be incomplete, and this could affect the validity of the prayers etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Current and Future Ghusl: Going forward, ensure that water reaches your entire body, including the scalp and hair, during the ghusl. If your hair is thick, make sure water penetrates to the roots.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Regarding the prayers performed with an invalid ghusl, yes, they would need to be made up (<\/span>qadha<\/span><\/i>). However, if you do not know the exact number of prayers, you should try to estimate to the best of your ability. Islam recognizes that Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear (Quran 2:286). You are only responsible for what you can reasonably estimate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Make a Plan: Start making up the missed prayers gradually. You can pray <\/span>qadha<\/span><\/i> along with your daily obligatory prayers (e.g., pray one missed prayer after each obligatory salah). Remember that Allah is merciful, and as long as you make a sincere effort to rectify the situation, He accepts your intention and striving. If you approach this sincerely, even if it takes time to make up the prayers, you will be rewarded for your efforts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
