Creating images of non-living objects such as landscapes, buildings, flowers, trees, and other elements of nature is generally considered permissible. This is because the prohibition of image-making in Islamic law focuses primarily on animate beings, those that possess a soul (ruh), such as humans and animals. Inanimate objects and plants do not fall under the same rulings, even though plants have life, as they do not possess a soul in the way that humans or animals do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Non-living objects like mountains, rivers, houses, and inanimate landscapes have never been included in the prohibition of image-making. Classical Hanafi scholars like Ibn Abidin in his commentary Radd al-Muhtar clarify that the prohibition is tied to representations of animate beings that have a soul (taswirul hai ), and thus, trees and other inanimate beings are excluded from this ruling.<\/span><\/p>\n
