I wanted to ask whether it is better to purchase an Islamic book when I am unsure about the legality of the PDF of it.\u00a0 In most books, it states that production of the book without the consent of the publisher is not allowed and it is difficult to check whether consent has been sought in a lot of cases. Would it be permissible to use these PDFs and am I sinful for the use of these resources which may have been provided illegally? The response on a site where I often download books was in the following link however I wanted to check with you.<\/span><\/p>\n

From my understanding, you are asking about the permissibility of downloading and using PDF versions of certain books that may be protected by copyright and produced in violation of those rights. In essence, it is not permissible to use or create such PDFs, as doing so would infringe on the rights of the author.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Copyright laws are in place to protect the rights of authors, editors, designers, and others involved in the book’s production. If someone spends years authoring a book and markets it for sale, their sales could suffer if a free PDF version is available, thereby causing harm to everyone involved. Thus, it is not allowed to use or create such content when there is clear copyright.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many older books do not have such rights and can be used in PDF form without concern. However, for more recent works, it is better to purchase them or ensure their legality before use.<\/span><\/p>\n
