Convert is asking about a tattoo of a cross, if she should remove it or have an additional tattoo but no design. Just colouring in or to obscure it. Since the latter might be cheaper and less risky?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tattoos are prohibited in Islam, not just due to their appearance but also partially due to the serious harm that it causes to one’s body. [1] (Refer to the \u00a0link below)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Thus colouring in a tattoo is not a viable\/permissible option for this revert brother.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rather, if tattoo removal will not cause any serious risk nor injury to the individual, then he must remove his tattoo. However, if he cannot afford to remove the tattoo, he should gradually accumulate money until he can afford this treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Until then, he should keep the tattoos covered up to the best of his ability, especially when in public, due to the fact that displaying one’s tattoos can negatively influence young Muslims. Furthermore, one should conceal sinful acts rather than exposing them publicly.<\/span><\/p>\n
