Someone sells washing machines. A few of his machines are spoilt. If they get fixed, he’ll sell them; otherwise, use them for parts. Does he have to give zakat on them?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the Hanafi school of thought, Zakaat must be paid on stock. If the washing machines are included in his trade stock, he will need to pay Zakaat on their market value, even if some of the machines are spoilt. If the machines are beyond repair and only used for parts, then Zakaat can be paid on them once the parts have been sold and the income calculated.<\/span><\/p>\n
