If a person who is performing 60 consecutive fasts as an expiation falls ill and is therefore unable to keep a fast, must they restart the 60 fasts or can they resume from where they left off?<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If a person who is performing 60 consecutive<\/strong> fasts as an expiation falls ill, and as result is unable to keep the remaining fasts, they must restart the 60 fasts altogether and cannot resume from where they left off as the fasts must be done in succession.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With that said, if the performing of 60 consecutive fasts is too difficult for an individual either through previous experience or present reality, then they may feed 60 poor people 2 meals (120 meals) or 1 poor person 2 meals per day for 60 days (120 meals) in lieu of 60 consecutive fasts.<\/span><\/p>\n
