Question:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For Sehri and Fajr time, how do you people go about with it? Do you look for astronomical twilight or the spreading of that light? Or you just rely on 18\u2070? Apparently, the sky is still very dark at 18\u2070 and the light only spread after about 10 minutes!<\/span><\/p>\n

To determine the time of Suhoor, Masajids in the UK will use one of the two approaches listed below:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Angle based calculations: this is where the sun\u2019s angles are used to estimate the time of Subh Sadiq (true dawn).<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Observation based approach: this relies on physically observing the eastern horizon to determine the actual visual appearance of dawn.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    According to the Hanafi madhhab, the time for Subh \u1e62adiq (true dawn) begins when the white horizontal light begins to spread across the horizon. If reliable observation shows that this light appears after the 18\u00b0 time, then that later time should be used for Fajr prayer. However, for Sehri (fasting), many Masajids opt for the safer and more cautious option, to stop eating by the 18\u00b0 time to avoid invalidating the fast.<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    When using the 18 degrees rule, one must wait 10 to 15 minutes before reading Fajr Salaah to ensure Subh Saadiq has started. However, if someone was to read salaah straight away, their salaah will be accepted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
