The name \u0632\u0646\u064a\u0631\u0629 is the name of a Sahabiyah [ra]. While \u0632\u0646\u064a\u0631\u0629 is often pronounced as Zunairah<\/em>, the name of the Sahabiyah [ra] is said to have been pronounced as Zinirah<\/em> (ie: Zinneerah<\/em>). This noble Sahabiyah [ra] was one of the first converts to Islam, and she remained steadfast despite enduring harsh torture from the disbelievers.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was one of the seven enslaved Sahabahs [ra] whom Abu Bakr [ra] bought and freed in order to rescue them from the clutches of the disbelievers. When Zinirah [ra] lost her sight, the disbelievers said that Laat and Uzzah [two idols] had caused her to lose her sight. She [ra] rejected this, and so Allah \"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu restored her sight to her.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has also been mentioned that the disbelievers said that if Islam was good, Zinirah [ra] would not have come to it before them. Due to this, Allah \"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu revealed the verse in Surah Ahqaaf: {And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, “If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it.” And when they are not guided by it, they will say, “This is a<\/span>n ancient falsehood.”} [46:11]<\/span><\/p>\n

Naming a child after a Sahabiyah [ra] is an excellent choice, although it may be better to also adopt the classical pronunciation. As for the meaning of the word itself, this is not particularly clear, and different sources offer various suggestions. Regardless, this name gains its benefits from the Sahabiyah [ra] who shares it, and the fact that a Sahabiyah [ra] bore this name without it being changed shows us that the name\u2019s meaning is one that is acceptable in Islam.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
