I wanted to ask a question regarding fatwa number 06188. It says that it is better to avoid using programs or programming languages with a logo that contains an image of a living creature if there is an alternative. The programming language I write in does not have a living creature on the logo (C++), but it requires a tool to compile (run) the code. There are many of them but the most popular are GCC, Clang and both have a living creature on the logo. <\/span><\/p>\n

My question was that can I use them and use the Linux operating system (logo is penguin) if I can practically avoid seeing these logos? In general, do these logos affect the permissibility of the programs themselves?<\/span><\/p>\n

The rulings and principles regarding image making and drawing (taswir) are regarding owning and drawing animate objects yourself, not seeing them. Whilst one should not actively seek out programs with such logos, there is nothing wrong with using an application that contains drawings made by others, as long as you are not using the logo itself for any of your projects or designs.<\/span><\/p>\n
