Salam, I just wanted to know if after smoking marijuana does your Salah still be accepted. If not, for how long? I am not talking about smoking then straight doing Salah, but like the next day or a few days after. Thank you<\/p>\n
In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n Allah Ta\u2019ala says:<\/p>\n ??? ???????? ????????? ???????? ???????? ????????? ????????????? ???????????? ????????????? ?????? ????? ?????? ???????????? ?????????????? ??????????? ???????????<\/p>\n (Ma\u2019idah:90)<\/p>\n Translation:<\/p>\n Oh you who believe! Intoxicants, gambling, animals sacrificed for other than Allah Ta\u2019ala, and the arrows used superstitiously for seeking luck and making decisions are an abomination of shaitaan\u2019s handiwork. So strictly avoid it in order that you may be successful.<\/p>\n The reason for it being forbidden is that it causes the mind of man to be useless which negatively affects his social as well as spiritual life. It creates enmity and hatred in his social life and it makes one unmindful of his Salah and remembrance of Allah Ta\u2019ala.<\/p>\n It is mentioned in most commentaries of hadith regarding the person who consumes intoxicants that Allah (S) does not accept his Salah for 40 days as is mentioned in \u2018at-Tayseer\u2019 the commentary of \u2018Jami\u2019 Sagheer\u2019:<\/p>\n (????? ?? ??????? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????? ?????? ???? ) ??? ???? ?? ???? ?????? ?????? ( ??? ??? ??? ?? ???? ??? ???? ) ???? ????? ??? ????? ( ??????)<\/p>\n (derived from at-Tayseer Sahrah Jami\u2019 Sagheer Vol:1 Pg:1086) (see also Faidh al-Qadeer Vol:3 Pg: 678)<\/p>\n Translation:<\/p>\n Wine (or Intoxicants) is the mother of all immorality, whoever drinks it, his Salah is not accepted for forty days, this is due to the fact that it remains in his system (veins and muscles) for forty days, if anyone dies in this state, he has died an ignorant persons death.<\/p>\n Keeping the above in mind there is no doubt that marijuana is just as intoxicative as alcohol or any other drug, due to its illicit nature and its ability to weaken a person\u2019s senses and competence. Regarding which, it is mentioned in the hadith:<\/p>\n That which intoxicates in large quantities is prohibited in small quantities.<\/p>\n (Abu Dawud No:3096, Tirmidhi No:1788, Ibn Majah No:3384)<\/p>\n Prophet (S) also said: \u201cEvery intoxicant is prohibited (Haram).\u201d (Sahih al-Bukhari, No:5659, Abu Dawud No:3200)<\/p>\n Therefore, if a person consumes marijuana, forty days of his Salah will not be accepted.
