My friends family want my friend to marry a girl who had an affair with his elder brother many years ago. (Allah knows the extent of their relationship &#8211; maybe they committed a big sin). Of course, both families don&#39;t know about this relationship. My friend is in big trouble if he refuses to marry because then both these families may separate forever because they have decided the marriage. Please tell us if it is allowed for him to marry that girl? In <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">Shariah<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, it means to completely cover one&rsquo;s self from the view of the non-mahram. (With whom marriage is permissible).<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Holy Quran Allah has said:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u0648\u0644\u064a\u0636\u0631\u0628\u0646 \u0628\u062e\u0645\u0631\u0647\u0646 \u0639\u0644\u064a \u062c\u064a\u0648\u0628\u0647\u0646<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&ldquo;They should draw their veils over their bosoms&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(Al-Noor v.31)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The word &ldquo;Khummr&rdquo; means veil. And the veil means a piece of cloth, which covers the face. (Al-Mawrid)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In another verse Allah has stated:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u064a\u0627\u064a\u0647\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0646\u0628\u064a \u0642\u0644 \u0644\u0644\u0627\u0632\u0648\u0627\u062c\u0643 \u0648\u0628\u0646\u0627\u062a\u0643 \u0648\u0646\u0633\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u0645\u0624\u0645\u0646\u064a\u0646 \u064a\u062f\u0646\u064a\u0646 \u0639\u0644\u064a\u0647\u0646 \u0645\u0646 \u062c\u0644\u0627\u0628\u064a\u0647<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&ldquo;O&rsquo;Nabi say to your wives, your daughters and the believing women that they should suspend over themselves the &ldquo;Jilbaabs&rdquo;.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jilbaab is the outer sheet or cloak. At the time of the Prophet <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\"> this sheet was so large that two women would easily be covered by it. The women used to wear it in such a way that it would not reveal their shape.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ibn-Abbas <img title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/ranhu.png\" height=\"12px\"> has said that the word jilbaab means a woman should be wrapped, from her head to her feet and that her face and nose should be hidden-leaving only the eye uncovered to see the way.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are also some Ahadeeth, which tells us that women should observe pardah and conceal themselves from strange men. One of them is:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0631\u0627\u0629 \u0639\u0648\u0631\u0629 \u0641\u0627\u0630\u0627 \u062e\u0631\u062c\u062a \u0627\u0633\u062a\u0634\u0631\u0641\u0647\u0627 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u064a\u0637\u0627\u0646 <\/strong>&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&ldquo;A <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">woman<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is an object of concealment, thus when she emerges, Satan uses her a means of spreading evil.&rdquo;&nbsp; (Mishkat, Tirmizi)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We must remember that hijab is an obligation that Allah <img title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/swt.png\" height=\"12px\"> has enjoined on the Muslim woman. This has been proven through the aforementioned verses of the Holy Quran and the hadith of the Prophet of Allah <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\">; the Ummah is agreed upon it and the application of hijab has been the practice of the Ummah throughout the centuries.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is the duty of every Muslim to adhere to the obligations of his religion and strive to make Allah <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\"> happy.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah <img title=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/swt.png\" height=\"12px\"> in the Holy Quran has said:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&ldquo;And whoever obeys Allah and His messenger achieves great success.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; (Surah Ahzab v.71)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are many <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">Ahadith<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> on the prohibition of men and women intermingling.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jarir ibn Abdullah narrates that I asked the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">Prophet about<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> the sudden glance (that is cast) on the face (of a non-Mahram). He commanded me that I should turn away my eyes. (Muslim, 1015)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Uqba bin Amir narrates that the Prophet said, &quot;Beware of entering upon the ladies.&quot; A man from the Ansar said, &quot;Allah&#39;s Apostle! What about the in-laws of the wife?&quot; The Prophet replied, &ldquo;The in-laws of the wife are death itself.&quot; (Bukhari, Vol7, 159)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The above verses of the Quran and the Ahadith of the Prophet indicate the importance of observing segregation. A person is instructed to turn the gaze away when a glance is cast on a non-Mahram.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In another hadith, Aaisha, Ummul Mu&#39;minin <img title=\"ra\u1e25imahull\u0101h (may All\u0101h have mercy upon him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e25imahull\u0101h (may All\u0101h have mercy upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/rahimahu.png\" height=\"12px\"> narrates: A woman made a sign from behind a curtain to indicate that she had a letter for the Prophet. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\">The Prophet<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> closed his hand, saying: I do not know if this is a man&#39;s or a woman&#39;s hand. She said: No, a woman. He said: If you were a woman, you would make a difference to your nails, meaning with henna. (Abu Dawood, 1938)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is a very delicate situation. The brother should try all means possible to live separately. In the Hadith, the Prophet of Allah <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\"> has resembled the in-laws to death, meaning extra care should be taken with in-laws with regards to Hijab. Try moving out and have a fresh start. Even they may have been some unlawful contact between them, if she is willing to change then try to forgive her.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Finally, in the Hanafi Fiqh, it is permissible to marry an adulterer.
