\n\tQuestion:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAssalaamu alikum warahmatullah,
\n\tI am intending on performing the umrah in February inshallah. If I intend to fly to Madinah first normally I would not need to make intention for umrah until wish to travel to makkah from Madinah. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever the planes final destination is Madinah, however it stops in Jeddah then goes to Madinah. In this situation what is the ruling? Can I go to madinah via Jeddah, of course I wont wear the ihram?<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\r\n Answer:<\/strong><\/pre>\n
\n\t\"Bismillah\"<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\n\tMeeqat sets the boundaries of the Haram from all directions approaching Makkah. One has to be in the satae of Ihraam upon crossing the Meeqat. Saaiduna Abdullah Ibn Abbas narrates that the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu fixed the Meeqat for the residents of Madinah at “Dhul Hulaifah”, for those who come from Syria at “Jahfa” and for those who come from Najd at “Qarn Ul Manazil” and for those who come from Yemen at “Yalamlam.” (Sahih Bukhari p.206 v.1)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\n\tOne is not allowed to pass the Meeqat without being in the state of ihraam. If one did then it is obligatory for him to return to the Meeqat and put on his ihraam. Otherwise, he will have to give a damm (sacrifice). (Muallimul Hujjaj p.94)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThere are three rulings, which applies to Muslims travelling from the UK with regards to their ihraam.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. \n\t\tIf you are landing in Jeddah and going to Makkah to perform Umrah directly, you must be in a state of ihraam before you land, as Jeddah is inside the Meeqat.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  2. \n\t\tIf you are landing in Jeddah but going to Madinah first, then you do not have to be in the state of ihraam when landing at Jeddah.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  3. \n\t\tIf you are landing in Madinah, then there is no need to be in the state of ihraam when landing there.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    \n\tWith regards to your question, you are allowed to go to Madinah via Jeddah.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
