\n\tQuestion:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf one does repentance from something he\/she did in the past and never to go back to a certain sin again, does he\/she still get punished in this world? And in the hereafter? jazakum allah khayran!<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\"Bismillah\"<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlmighty Allah mentions in the Holy Quran :<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“And all of you beg Allah to forgive you, O believers, that you may be successful” (24. 31)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“Seek the forgiveness of your lord, and turn to him in repentance. (11.31)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance!” (66.8)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is necessary to repent from every sin. If the offense involves the right of Allah \"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu then there are three conditions that must be met for ones repentance to be accepted.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n\t\tto detest from committing it<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  2. \n\t\tto regret committing it<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  3. \n\t\tto decide not to recommit it<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n\tBut if a sin involves a Human’s right it requires a fourth condition. If it is a property, he should return it to its rightful owner. If its backbiting, one should ask the pardon of the offended.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tThere are great merits mentioned in the Ahaadeeth regarding one who repents from sins.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSayyidna Anas \"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu narrates that the prophet \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said: “ Allah becomes extremely pleased with that person who repents from sins , more happy than that person who is travelling through a desert with his transport, upon which is its food and drink, his transport then goes missing, the person hopelessly then rests under a tree and falls asleep losing all sort of hope of finding his only means of survival, when he awakes he sees that his transport is infront of his eyes. Out of joy and happiness he gets hold of his transport and proclaims; “O Allah you are my servant and i am your lord”. Due to extreme joy he made a mistake in his wordings”. (Sahih Muslim)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSayyidah Aishah \"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu narrates that the Hole Prophet \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said: “ when a person (who feels ashamed and feels regret)admits to the sins he has committed then he repents, Allah \"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu accepts his Tawbah (repentance) (Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tWith regards to your Question, Insha Allah, if a person sincerely repents to Allah \"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu then it is hoped Allah will forgive him and that he will not be punished in this world and in the hereafter.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
