\n\tQuestion<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tI am applying for a job at an organisation that is partly funded by the N<\/span><\/span><\/span>ational Lottery<\/span><\/span><\/span> Fund as well as other organisations. I would like to know if it is permissible for me to work for the company if I am offered the job.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTwo conditions need to be found for a job to be lawful:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n\t\tThe nature of the job has to be compatible with the guidelines laid down by the Shariah.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  2. \n\t\tThe wages at least the majority of it has to be from lawful sources.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\tRegarding your question, if the nature of your job in the company is compatible with the guidelines of the Shariah, coupled with the condition that more than 50% of your wages are not from lottery sources then it will be permissible for you to work in that organisation.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\tWe as Muslims have to make sure our jobs and salary are 100% lawful.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\t \n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSayyiduna Abu Hurayrah [rahimahullah] narrates that the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said: “Allah is pure and accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers.” And Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu has said: “O you who believe! Eat of the pure things and do right.” Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu has said: “oh you who believe! Eat of the pure things we have provided you.” Then the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu mentioned a man who journeyed far and dishevelled and dusty and spends out oh his hand to the Heavens: “O Lord! O, Lord<\/span>! While his food is unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can his dua be answered!” (Sahih Muslim)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tFrom this <\/span>Hadith<\/span>, we can understand that unlawful income does have an effect on one's worship and acceptance of ones duas.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSaaiduna Abu Bakr \"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu narrated th<\/span>at the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said “That body will not enter Paradise which has been nourished with Haram” (Sunan Baihaqi)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSaaiduna Ka`b Bin Ujrah narrates that the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said, “A body nourished with Haram will not enter Jannah”. (Sunan Tirmizi)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \n\tSaaiduna Jabir Bin Abdullah \"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu narrates that the Prophet of Allah \"\u1e63allall\u0101hu said, “That flesh will not enter Paradise which has grown from Haram, and all that flesh which has grown from Haram, the fire (of hell) is more worthy of it.” (Musnad Ahmad, Sunan Darimi & Sunan Baihaqi)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
