He had also gifted me many edible items such as candies ,e.t.c. My question is that is it halal for me to consume the edible items and use the watches, e.t.c .If not please clarify what to do with these items.<br \/>\n\tJazakallah-hu-khair<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Bismillah.jpg\" rel=\"\" target=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Bismillah\" height=\"50\" src=\"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Bismillah.jpg\" title=\"\" width=\"267\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">In the above mentioned situation, the source of the income will have to be looked into.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">If the majority of the income which the News Channel generates is from a Halal source, there will be no harm in accepting gifts or to eat from the wealth of the person working there.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">However, if the majority of the income is <strong>not<\/strong> from Halal sources, the gift or the food from the person <strong>cannot be<\/strong> <strong>accepted<\/strong>. Dar ul Kutub ul Ilmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">If it becomes apparent that the majority of the income is not from Halal sources, the items that have been previously gifted will <strong>need to be returned to the person<\/strong>. (Radd ul Muhtar, volume 9, page 553-554. Dar ul Kutub ul Ilmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">As Muslims we should not take any chances that may possibly jeopardise our Hereafter. Any situation that may put us in <strong>doubt<\/strong> in regards to any item being Halal or Haram, the safest option should be adopted.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">This is a lesson which we learn from the Prophet peace be upon Him, as can be found in the following Hadith:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">On the authority of an-Nu&rsquo;man ibn Basheer <img title=\"ra\u1e25imahull\u0101h (may All\u0101h have mercy upon him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e25imahull\u0101h (may All\u0101h have mercy upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/rahimahu.png\" height=\"12px\">, who said:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">I heard the Messenger of Allah (<span dir=\"RTL\">\ufdfa<\/span>) say, &ldquo;<strong>That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear, and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which many people do not know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honour, but he who falls into doubtful matters [eventually] falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around the boundary, only grazing therein. Truly every king has a boundary, and truly Allah&rsquo;s boundary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh, which, if it be whole, all the body is whole, and which, if it is diseased, all of [the body] is diseased.
