{"id":8732,"date":"2016-12-09T17:39:16","date_gmt":"2016-12-09T17:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/?p=8732"},"modified":"2016-12-09T17:40:12","modified_gmt":"2016-12-09T17:40:12","slug":"halal-meat-in-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/home\/halal-meat-in-romania\/","title":{"rendered":"Halal meat in Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Fatwa ID: 02034<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Answered by&nbsp;<\/strong>Molana&nbsp;Eunus Ali<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Question:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Assalamu&nbsp;Alaykum&nbsp;Sheikh,<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">I am a Medical student in Romania and I wanted to ask you a question about halal meat here. \u2028Now Romania is a Orthodox Christian country and they are very practising in their faith, halal options are very limited here.\u2028<br \/>\n\tThe Imam of the Masjid in this city has said that it is permissible to eat the chicken here because it is from the people of the book, he also said that in Romania there is only really one supplier and they slaughter chicken in the same manner as Muslims therefore it is okay to consume that but not red meat as they use other methods. \u2028<br \/>\n\tNow is it okay for us as visitors and students here to accept what the Sheikh is saying and trust him as he is the most learned about these matters in this city at least, bearing in mind there is only one masjid here.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">JazaakAllah&nbsp;Khair<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Bismillah.jpg\" rel=\"\" target=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Bismillah\" height=\"50\" src=\"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Bismillah.jpg\" title=\"\" width=\"267\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">The slaughtered animals of &lsquo;the people of the book&rsquo; (Jews and Christian) will be<strong> permissible<\/strong> for a Muslim to consume when those conditions are fulfilled that apply to a Muslim when slaughtering an animal.&nbsp; (Legal Rulings on Slaughtered Animals by Mufti Muhammad TaqiUthmani, Page 59, Maktaba-e-DarulUloom)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">The <strong>necessary conditions<\/strong> which need to be fulfilled at the time of slaughtering the animal are as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>For the slaughterer to be a Muslim or from &lsquo;the people of the books.&rsquo;<\/strong> (RaddulMuhtar, Volume 9, Page 427 &amp; 428, DarulKutubulIlmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">It is necessary to point out, that &lsquo;<strong>the people of the book&rsquo;<\/strong> refers to those who are true followers of their religion and the teachings of their respective scriptures although they may have been changed.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">As for those Jews or Christians who do not have faith in their respective scriptures or even in God, and are only considered Jewish or Christian by the consensus record will <strong>not be considered<\/strong>&lsquo;the people of the book,&rsquo; hence their slaughtered animal will <strong>not be permissible<\/strong> for consumption. (Ma&#39;ariful Quran, Volume 3, Page 63, Maktaba-e-DarulUloom)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:36.0pt;\">\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Furthermore, if the Christian or the Jewish person slaughtering the animal believes in the divinity of Jesus or Uzair (may peace be upon both of them), the meat <strong>should not be consumed<\/strong>. (RaddulMuhtar, Volume 9, Page 430, DarulKutubulIlmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Taking the name of Allah&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"sub\u1e25\u0101nahu wa ta'\u0101la (glorified and exalted be He)\" height=\"20\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\\Users\\user\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\msohtmlclip1\\01\\clip_image001.png\" width=\"23\" \/><\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>at the time of slaughtering the animal.<\/strong> (Badai&#39; As-Sanai&#39;, Volume 6, Page 233, DarulKtutbulIlmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">If however either the name of Allah is purposely left out orthe name of another is added along with Allah&rsquo;s name at the time of slaughtering or the animal is slaughtered in the name of that other than Allah, the meat will be<strong>haram<\/strong> and cannot be consumed. (RaddulMuhtar, Volume 9, Page 433 &amp; 434, DarulKutubulIlmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"3\">\n\t\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>At the time of slaughtering, at least 3 of the 4 required vessels must be cut.<\/strong> The vessels are the throat, windpipe and the two jugular veins. (Badai&#39; As-Sanai&#39;, Volume 6, Page 205, DarulKtutbulIlmiyyah)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>In conclusion, when the above mentioned conditions are met, the slaughtered animal of <\/strong><strong>&lsquo;the people of the book&#39; will be permissible for the Muslims to consume, otherwise it will be considered Haram.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">As Muslims we should not take any chances that may possibly jeopardise our Hereafter. Any situation that may put us in <strong>doubt<\/strong> in regards to an item being Halal or Haram, the safest option should be adopted.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Al-Hasanibn Ali ibnAbiTalib <img title=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" alt=\"ra\u1e0dyAll\u0101hu 'anhu (may All\u0101h be pleased with him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/ranhu.png\" height=\"12px\">, the grandson of the Messenger of Allah <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\">, and the one much loved by him, who said:<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">I memorised from the Messenger of Allah <img title=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" alt=\"\u1e63allall\u0101hu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of All\u0101h be upon him)\" class=\"islamic_graphic\" src=\"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/islamic-graphics\/img\/black\/20\/saw.png\" height=\"12px\">: &ldquo;<strong>Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt. <\/strong><strong>The truth brings tranquillity while falsehood sows doubt.<\/strong>&rdquo;(SunanAt-Tirmidhi:2518)<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">In regards to your question, an investigation should be carried out.
