The first part is that zakat will be obligatory on the money given by your parents. When your parents made you the owner of the money, you are now considered to be the legal owner of it, hence, after the passing of one lunar year, zakat will be obligatory. The punishment for that is given, much before the Hereafter comes, right here in this world as well.
