Is CBD oil halal or haram?

There is no doubt that Islam has made haram consuming those things which cause the mind to become intoxicated.

Allah's Messenger () said:

"All drinks that intoxicate are unlawful.” [[1]]

The question we must ask is whether CBD oil is an intoxicant or not.

CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant. The cannabis plant itself is made up of many chemicals. The chemical which forms the psychoactive component of cannabis is called Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Cannabidiol (CBD) is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid from the cannabis plant. This means that CBD does not have any intoxicant properties. [[2]]

Based on this, if the CBD oil is composed of pure CBD and no THC is found in it, then it will be permissible to consume.
