Can a person do masah on jowrab according to the Hanbail School of Fiqh.

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

The word Jowrab is used for those socks which are not made from leather. According to all the school of thoughts apart from Malikiyya a person may perform masah upon socks made from other than leather with the following three conditions.

1.      The socks are thick and will stop water reaching the feet.

2.      The socks remain on the feet without having to be tied.

3.      The socks are not so thin that the skin of the feet beneath is visible.

If the above three conditions are found in a jowrab then according to Hanbali school of thought a person may do masah upon them. (These kinds of socks will have the same rulings as Khuf.) (Kitabul Fiqh Alal Mazahibil Arba’ah, Vol 1. P126)

Only Allah knows best.
