Are women allowed to drive cars?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It will be permissible for women to drive cars if there is a genuine need, for example, the husband cannot drive or there is an emergency. However certain guidelines must be followed, for example, there must be no danger to the woman, the rules of hijaab must be fully observed (which is her whole body, including her face, beside her hands and feet), and if she is driving without the company of mahrams, then it should be within 48 miles.
