Question:
Dear Mufti Sahib,
Assalamu Alaikum!
I have an offer in process whereby I will have to work with a Recruiting Agency/company i.e. Bostonweb iPlacement which provides recruitment/placement services to Banks, Insurance, IT & other companies.
My part of job will be to recruit or place IT Professionals e.g. Java/J2EE Developers in the Bank e.g. Standard Chartered Bank. People I will hire for the Bank will work at Bank but will be paid by our company i.e. Bostonweb iPlacement & Bank will pay off to Bostonweb iPlacement. Likewise I will also be paid by Bostonweb and not the Bank itself. I will also get commission on each placement of Java Developer at the Bank from Bostonweb iPlacement.
In the light of Shariah, could you please assist me if earning from this job will be Halaal for me or not?
Answer:
In the aforementioned scenario, the nature of the job i.e. recruiting people to work in banks and insurance companies is not permissible. The ruling will not alter if the salary is being paid a third company other than the bank.
We as Muslims have to make sure our jobs and salary are 100% lawful.
Saiduna Abu Hurayah narrates that the Prophet of Allah
narrates that the Prophet of Allah said: “Allah is pure and accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers.” And Allah
said: “Allah is pure and accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers.” And Allah has said: “o you who believe! Eat of the pure things and do right.” Allah
has said: “o you who believe! Eat of the pure things and do right.” Allah has said: “oh you who believe! Eat of the pure things we have provided you.” Then the Prophet of Allah
has said: “oh you who believe! Eat of the pure things we have provided you.” Then the Prophet of Allah mentioned a man who journeyed far and dishelved and dusty and spends out oh his hand to the Heavens: “O lord! O Lord! While his food is unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can his dua be answered!” (Sahih Muslim)
mentioned a man who journeyed far and dishelved and dusty and spends out oh his hand to the Heavens: “O lord! O Lord! While his food is unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can his dua be answered!” (Sahih Muslim)
From this Hadith we can understand that unlawful income does have an effect on ones worship and acceptance of ones duas.
