Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Can the tawaf of Umrah count as tawaful widah?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

The tawaf of wadaa’ is performed as the final act when one has intended to leave Makkah. It is a waajib which is performed after the tawaf of ziyarah.

Any tawaf performed before the Hajj will be the tawaf of umrah or tawaf of qudoom respectively. [Ibn Abideen, Raddul Muhtaar, Volume 2, page 523]

Therefore the tawaf of umrah cannot replace the tawaf of wadaa’.
