Confused about the starting of my menses

CategoriesTaharah [479]

On 20 January I had my menstrual which was up to 27 Jan. After few days my istihada started. It was dark red or black with continuous secretions. It continued up to 11 Feb which was the 16th day after my period finished. Till this date my secretions seemed more like menstrual but the smell was not that of menstrual blood. But I stopped praying because I was not sure if it was still istihada. After few days on 14 Feb everything stopped. I am confused and do not know what is my exact menstruation, this one or the new one which will come on 20 Feb. Tell me what is supposed to be my ruling of Salah during this entire duration.

Answer

What I understand from your question was that you had istihadah from the 27th of January to the 11th February. There afterwards your secretions seemed like menstrual blood rather than istihadah for three days up to 14 th of February.

Therefore, in the aforementioned scenario, the bleeding you saw from the 10th of February to the 14th of February will be considered as haidh.

Any prayers or fasts kept during those three days will be considered invalid. The following answer is based on the following hadith where the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam has said, “Two menstruations cannot occur within fifteen days of each other.” (Sunan Baihaqi)

The conclusion we can come to is that after a fifteen day gap since the last haidh if you saw blood for a minimum of three days then this will be considered as haidh. Furthermore, four days will now be considered as your new habit.
