Do I need to repeat the aqiqah in the following situation

CategoriesFood & Drink [309]

We did aqeeqa for our son on 7th day. A couple of weeks later we invited close members of our family for dinner where we cooked the aqeeqa meat. Several members of our family gave the baby and me gifts.

Someone said afterwards that as you and baby were given gifts then we will have to do the aqeeqa again as we are not allowed to receive gifts if you feed using aqeeqa meat.

Please can you tell me what is allowed according to shariah.

Will I have to do aqeeqa again?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

The performance of aqiqah is highly encouraged.  It is to be performed by the parents or the guardian of the child.

The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam has said that a child is pledged to its aqiqah, which is sacrificed on behalf of the child on the seventh day when it is given a name and the hair is shaved off its head.  (Sunan Tirmizi p.278 v.1)

Aqiqah should be performed on the seventh day of the birth of the child and if not done on the seventh day then whenever it is done, it should be on the next seventh day and so on.  (Bashti Zewar p.280)

Sheikh Abdulhaq Muhadith Dahlwee writes that after 21 days the pattern can be carried on, for example after 21 days the Aqiqah still can be done on the seventh day from the childs birthday.

With regards to your question your aqiqah is correct and valid. There is no such ruling where you have to do the aqiqah if you recived gifts by feeding the guests aqiqah meat.
