Question:

I have a habit of fasting nafil (Voluntary) fasts, I have few questions-

1. Once I was keeping fast on Thursday. While sleeping alongside wife, I indulged in foreplay with her and ejaculate. In this case what is kaffara?

2. Once I was keeping fasts for 9 daysof Jil hajj month, on 5th fast again same thing happened as mentioned above, what is kaffara for this, then I continued fasting , is reward is valid as for fasting 9 days or I lost reward due to break of one fast (I stayed whole day as I am staying in fasting).

3.In above cases as I stayed as if I am fasting , so during doing ghusl I have to take water for gurgling and take water deep inside nose, as like we doing ghusl when we are doing normal gusl or we have to do gusl as if we are fasting, not taking water deep in mouth and nose.

Answer:

Bismillah

Answer 1

Foreplay with ones wife, which in turn leads to ejaculation in the state of fasting, whether it is obligatory fast or optional fast, will break the fast. However, one is required just to do qadha and there is no need for a kaffarah. (Sharah Wiqayah p.262 v.1)

Answer 2

The ruling is same as above. You will only get the reward for 8 days of fasting.

Saaiduna Abu Hurairah raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said, ‘On no days is the worship of Allah desired more than in the first ten days of Zul Hijjah.  The fast of each of these days is equal to the fast of a whole year and the worship of each of these nights is equal to the worship of Lailatul Qadr’. (Sunan Tirmizi p.158 v.1)

Answer 3

It is Fard to rinse the mouth during ghusal in such a way that the water reaches all parts of the mouth as it is understood from the following verse of the Holy Qur’an “If you are in a state of Janaba, purify yourself (bathe your whole body, attain thorough cleanliness)”. (Surah Ma’idah 5:6)

It is not necessary to gargle for the water to reach all parts of the mouth; this can be gained by merely performing ‘kulli’ i.e. rinsing the mouth. Hence it is mentioned in Fataawa Darul Uloom Deoband that “gargling is sunnah for the person who is not fasting”. (Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband Vol:1 Pg:140 & Raddul Muhtar  Vol:1 Pg.423)
