Question

I am 26 years old. My parents are searching for a good girl for my marriage. But for the past 2 years for one or the other reason, the talks with the girl family are not fruitful. Also, the girl’s family sometimes asks about our property and bank balance. We are from a middle-class family.

Is this because of my sins? What is the solution to this problem? I want to know some A’mal about for getting a good, nek and deendaar and beautiful girl for my marriage.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Abu Saeed al Khudri RadiAllahu Anh reports: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 5461).

Firstly, if we look at the hadith quoted above, we come to learn that whenever a believer experiences any sort of difficulty whatsoever, it becomes a cause for his sins to be forgiven.

Secondly, it has been reported by Anas bin Malik RadiAllahu Anh that the Messenger of Allah SAW said:
“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4031).

On the other hand, the fact that trials may befall someone in the world life due to their sins, cannot be overlooked.

Allah SWT says in the Holy Quran:

“As for the one who turns away from My Message, for him shall be a miserable life, and We shall raise him blind on the Day of Judgment.” (Surah Taha, Verse 124).

One must understand, the true reasoning behind one’s problems and difficulties is known by Allah SWT alone. Therefore, at such times one must turn to Allah SWT and seek his forgiveness and mercy.

With regards to the situation in question, you should continue to pray to Allah SWT and never lose hope in His mercy and ability.

Abu UmamahRadiAllahu Anh reports: “It was said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is most likely to be listened to?’ He said: ‘(During) the last part of the night and at the end of the obligatory prayers.’”
(Jami Tirmidhi, Hadith 3499).

Allah SWT is All-Hearing and he is always listening to our prayers. However, make effort in waking up for Tahajjud prayer and making dua during the last part of the night.

Anas bin Malik narrated that:

The Messenger of Allah said: “Indeed charity extinguishes the Lord’s anger and it protects against the evil death.” (Jami Tirmidhi, Hadith 664)

This hadith teaches us that giving charity cools Allah’s wrath which ultimately will invite his mercy and alleviate the calamity.

Finally, make a habit of constantly making the following prayer which is taught to us by Allah SWT Himself in the Holy Quran: Oh our Lord, grant us spouses and children who are cool to our eyes and make us leaders of the God-fearing.

I pray Allah SWT eases your affairs and blesses you with a pious wife and blissful marriage.

Ameen.

Only Allah knows best.
