Question:

My sister wants to know due to her living in the city, my cousin lives in a location but she want to send her child to the city. 

She is asking if she can give a letter of residence to my cousin for her child to get a better school

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Speaking lies and deceiving are major sins. It is not permissible to lie and fake a residency to get a school admission.

However to make it easy, you can tell your cousin to send her child to stay by you often or sometimes and you can give her the letter of residence.

This is done for you not to openly lie and deceive for the child to get a good school.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 2607

فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏”‏ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ غَشَّ ‏”‏
