Question:
I’m extremely tensed, a few weeks ago I noticed myself feeling pleasure when performing Istinja and washing for very long. I don’t know the reason behind it and I fear it to be masturbation (the reason behind this feeling is not the use of hands since I feel this many times even before I use my hands to end istinja). I made tauba and decided never to do it again. I previously used to take longer when washing but now I do not commit this intentionally, I limited my time of istinja and I read one of the answers regarding this query and I implemented on that too. I dont take too long to perform istinja now, the water used is very cold too and the reason is not even the use of hands. I got control of this somewhat since I now experience this less but now when I poop I again feel that pleasure when washing cause it takes a bit longer to wash and I don’t know how to control this problem even though I don’t commit this at times intentionally. How do I control this problem? Is this masturbation?

Answer:
The bathroom is a place where one must exercise caution and recite duas before entering. There’s a narration from Rasulullah (saw) where he said: “Verily, these washrooms are inhabited by jinn. When one of you enters his place of relief, let him say: I seek refuge in Allah from foul and noxious things.” If you fear doing impermissible things in the bathroom and are concerned about this issue, make sure you recite this dua every time before you enter the bathroom and spend the least amount of time possible in the bathroom. That should not stop you from cleaning yourself properly either because that is also a very serious issue and can lead to your Wudhu and purification not being complete. Try to find a balance between the two and make dua that Allah eases your affairs.

«ويدخل الخلاء» – ممدودا – المتوضأ والمراد بيت التغوط «برجله اليسرى» ابتداء مستور الرأس استحبابا تكرمة لليمنى لأنه مستقذر يحضره الشيطان «و» لهذا «يستعيذ» أي يعتصم «بالله من الشيطان الرجيم قبل دخوله» وقبل كشف عورته ويقدم تسمية الله تعالى على الاستعاذة لقوله ﵊: «ستر ما بين أعين الجن وعورات بني آدم إذا دخل أحدكم الخلاء أن يقول بسم الله» ولقوله ﵇: «إن الحشوش محتضرة فإذا أتي فليقل أعوذ بالله من الخبث والخبائث»

ومن الآدابِ: تقديمُ الاستعاذةِ، لقوله عليه الصلاة والصلام: «إنَّ هذه الحُشُوشَ (٥) مُحتَضَرةٌ (٦)، فإذا جاء أحدُكم الخلاءَ فليقُل: أعوذُ باللهِ من الخُبُثِ والخبائث». رواه أبو داود وابن ماجه. «كان ﵊ إذا دَخَلَ الخلاءَ يقولُها». متفق عليه.
