Question:

 

Can mosque funds (which were donated in a mosque fund box or something similar) be used to purchase food and then resell to people at programs at the masjid ?

 

 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

 

Answer:

 

The various donations given to the Masjid are a trust (amanah), and hence should be disposed of with this in mind. With that said, it is permissible for the Masjid committee to use miscallaenous Masjid donations to purchase food and then resell at programs in the Masjid.

 

 

The money donated becomes the ownership of the Masjid, thus, the Masjid committee may dispose of it according to how they deem it to be most beneficial for the Masjid.
