Question:

Islam provided various Surahs like Surahs Nas and surah Falaq and Du’as to protect us from evil eye.

But what if a person feels that he has been struck with an evil eye, does reciting these surahs or Du’as protect us from the previous evil eye. For example of a person A shares some good thing about his life to someone and later he seems losing that opportunity and he feels like he has caught someone evil eye, then he say these Du’as or surahs. Will these prayers remove the effect of already struck evil eye?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: “The Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to seek refuge from the evil eye of the Jinn and the evil eye of humans. When Al-Mu’awwadhatan were revealed, he started to recite them and stopped reciting anything else.” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 5494

Evil eye is a fact and you have asked a good question. From the understanding of Quran and Hadith, certain Surah’s and Duas are prescribed to not only prevent evil eye but to also cure the effects of evil eye. So, to answer your questions; yes, the Muawazatain (Sulah Falaq and Surah Nas) can be used to cure a person from the effects of evil eye.

Along with Surahs, here is another supplication one can make:

أُعِيذُكُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّة

“With God’s perfect words I commend you to God’s protection from every devil and poisonous creature and from every evil eye.”
