Question:
If a person ate haram meat and the grease of the meat was around their mouth would this later on make the cream (Vaseline) also impure if they rubbed that cream around their face but there was no colour taste or smell of the impurity on the Vaseline, since the Vaseline overwhelms the impurity and doesn’t change characteristics?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
As long as the grease remains on your face, the impurity remains. Impurities in thick wax and grease generally do not spread to other parts of the wax and grease unless you mix them. If the wax or grease is or becomes liquid (like when vaseline melts when applied), impurities would spread. By applying vaseline and spreading it over your face, you have mixed the grease with vaseline and spread the impurity. Overpowering and characteristics are considered when pure substances mix with liquids, and this is used to determine if water is suitable for Wudu. In the case of fats, oils, waxes, and grease, the following scenario should be considered:
If a mouse dies in ghee, if it is solid, the surrounding liquid should be scooped out and discarded, and the remainder is pure and may be eaten. If it is liquid, it may not be eaten.
