Question:

So I’ve been having waswas for a while and I’m always worried that my salah’s aren’t going to be accepted as I feel like I’ve transferred impurity from my feet to my prayer mat. The reason I say this is because I used to neglect impurity and when I’d go to the toilet sprinkles of urine would often spread outside the toilet onto the carpet and this would be frequent and mostly would go different places of the carpet but now I’ve taken impurity seriously and learnt more about it.

So I have a question, if I walked on this carpet a few days later with wet socks but there’s no smell or colour of impurity on my socks do I need to taste the socks to determine if the impurity is there, as the three characteristics of impurity is smell taste and colour or is the lack of smell and colour enough to check. Please guide me as this has been on my mind for a while and I’d really appreciate a response and also would that result in my prayer mat becoming impure as I walked on it with this wet socks.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Answer:

There is no reason why the impure carpets should have remained so after you learnt the rules of purity. They should have been washed and cleaned as soon as possible [1].

If the impurity which came into contact with the carpet has dried, then walking on it with wet socks will not make the socks impure. Only if the carpet is wet will the socks become impure [2].
